I often get asked what to write about for the purposes of Article Marketing. While the question is asked in many ways, and I sometimes find it surprising, my answer is always the same. It really does not matter what you write about, but it is best to write on a topic that you have some knowledge of. That just makes the task a bit easier. But it really does not matter what you write about as long as it is interesting to a fair number of people. Remember that the purpose of writing for Article Marketing is to create some traffic to your web site or blog.
Most web sites and blogs have some sort of focus or theme. That being the case, it is best to keep your articles relating to that focus or theme. The reason for that is your traffic generated as a result of your article needs to have an interest in what you are offering or promoting at your web site or blog when it arrives there. Traffic that has no interest in what you are offering or promoting will leave your site at lightning speed. So, for example, let us assume you have a site where you are promoting cosmetic products. You write and publish a great, high quality article on guns and ammunition. The link you put in your resource box links to your cosmetic site. That makes perfect sense since the purpose in writing the article is to drive traffic and hopefully make some sales.
With a quality article you will drive some traffic to your site but it is doubtful you will make any sales. As soon as the article readers click through and arrive at your cosmetic site they will exit. You would have been far better off, and much happier with the results, if you had written an article on cosmetics or even a general article on facial beauty. I think you understand what I am saying here.
So, you may be thinking that you will run out of things to write about after you have written a couple of dozen articles on the same topic. The truth is with a little thought and imagination you will probably be able to write a lot more articles on a single topic than you think. All you really have to do is get an idea and just start writing. You will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it really is. You will soon find that the more you write the easier it becomes, and you will actually start looking forward to your writing.
I am to the point that I can start with just a thought or idea on a topic that I am a little bit knowledgeable about, and begin writing and have five-hundred to six-hundred words on paper is less than thirty minutes. If I am somewhat ignorant of the subject matter it will take quite a bit longer as I will need to do some research.
To recap, it really does not matter what you write about if it is a topic of general interest. It only makes sense to have your article relate to the web site or blog to which you are linking. The important thing is, and I think it was Nike that beat me to this one, just do it!
