Nowadays with an increase in the IT sector and other corporate fields the demand of engineers has increased following which every year the number of institutes have also increased for the same. But what distinguish the Top Engineering College from the rest are the standards which they have set since the year of their establishment.
There are both private and government colleges. Among these the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are the most famous group. These IITs are divided into 15 institutes in 15 different cities of the country – Mumbai, New Delhi, Indore, Chennai, Patna, Jodhpur, Hydrabad, Bhubaneshwar, Mandi, Guwahati Gandhinagar, Ropar, Kanpur, Roorkee and Kharagpur. Every year thousands of students appear for the Joint Entrance Examination or IIT-JEE to get an admission in the IITs, which is considered one of the toughest examinations to crack. Every year 8,000 undergraduates are selected, approximately. Every institute has its own admission procedure like the IITs. Other common entrance test for undergraduates is the AIEEE, which is also conducted on national level.
On the other hand for the post-graduation course tests like – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET), Joint Entrance Test to M.Sc (JAM) and Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is conducted. The eligibility for the post-graduation program is that the candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in science stream.
To choose a Top Engineering College means to enroll oneself with a college that offers great teaching standard as well as a good infrastructure. These colleges have produced some of the best Engineers of the world. Such colleges play an important role in developing skilled engineers. Hence is one of the many ways of developing the nation.
