Venice, Florence and Milan are all considered as cities of Art and are major attraction for tourists around the year. Taking ninety minutes Journey from Florence by train and you come across one of the most exotic walled city of Lucca. The city was colonized by Romans from the beginning of 2nd century and was an independent republic for nearly 500 years. The city was dependent on the lucrative silk trade and in order to protect themselves against rivals the citizens constructed a rampart around the city. The city had never tested these walls in any battle till date and at present this wall is preserved in Italy.
The path that is one the top of the rampart has been decorated by shaded trees on both sides and boulevard that stretches for around four kilometers that surrounds the city. The wall preserves some of the best Romanesque churches which can be reached by the narrow streets where most vehicles are just not welcomed. You can walk through the city streets feeling the romance of the city in the air. At the entrance of the forum stands quaint church and Roman amphitheatre. This place is also the center meeting point of the city which is also occupied by San Michele church. When in the city you can also get a chance to attend a musical recital at the famous church of San Giovanni and listen to Puccini’s music.
Listening to this beautiful soprano can be a touching experience for anyone when visiting Lucca. You can also find paintings and sculptures at Cathedral Duomo which are awe inspiring. The place is also a place for collection of beautiful medieval art by renowned Italian artists. When in Lucca you should always find some time to shop at Taddeus to purchase some of the best Bucellato. There are also a number of roadside cafes where you can shop for a cone of gelato or enjoy your best glass of wine. Lucca is a city that most tourists visiting Italy never miss to visit. The city is identified by the heritage of its ancient culture and art effects. Besides Rome, Milan and Florence, Lucca is also one of the most preferred place for tourist attraction in Italy. You can experience all the charm and romance of Tuscany when visiting Lucca. The city hosts different traditional cultures and welcomes tourists from around the globe to be a part of it and to enjoy some of the most exotic locations of medieval times.
