The walled city of Lucca.

Venice, Florence and Milan are all considered as cities of Art and are major attraction for tourists around the year. The city was colonized by Romans from the beginning of 2nd century and was an independent republic for nearly 500 years. The city was dependent on the lucrative silk trade and in order to protect themselves against rivals the citizens constructed a rampart around the city. The city had never tested these walls in any battle till date and at present this wall is preserved in Italy.
