The SMTP server plays the role of the protagonist as far as the mail transfer is concerned. Due to internet being the prime mode of communication, more often than not the inbox of the individual gets jam-packed and as a result of that many important mails get delivered late. The delayed receipt of the important mails pertaining to either academics or business can end in the loss of valuable opportunities. This is why the ISP blocks were created in order to filter out the important mails and shove aside the rest. This way only the required mails would remain in the inbox providing greater facility to the respective individual. Sometimes the ISP blocks pose as an unnecessary restriction. To overcome this problem without losing out on the benefits of the ISP block came into being the SMTP relay services.
The SMTP server primarily deals with the transferring of mails. One only types in the message and sends the mail to the required address. However that is only the tip of the iceberg that is yet to be traversed in order to successfully deliver the mail. The mail send by the user is actually received by the mail server of the user. Once that is done the mail server locates the mail server at the recipients end. This searching is done with the help of the domain name server. That is the information that follows the symbol”@” in a mail address. Post the successful location of the mail server of the targeted recipient the mail is send to the respective recipient. The SMTP server also triggers off the delivery report to be send to the respective user, both in case of successful and unsuccessful delivery of the mail.
The SMTP relay services on the other hand plays the role of the bypass route for the mails to enable them to sidetrack the restriction imposed by the ISP blocks pertaining to the incoming and outgoing of mails. There are some mails that cause no problem and certainly nothing would be harmed to receive those mails either. The SMTP relay services enable one to precisely accomplish the passage of these mails. One needs to enter the name and the domains that one wishes to receive mails from to the relay server for smooth transit of mails.
The SMTP server and the SMTP relay services therefore couple up to form an invincible and indispensable duo that will take the global communication to height unknown and unconceived of.
