Energy derived from wind power can be a possible alternative solution for the problem of fossil fuels and other potentially harmful resources. More and more conferences and seminars should be held on this important issue at the global stage for making a difference. If we want to make earth a better place to live in we must strive hard to understand the importance of renewable energy sources. We must make use of this green energy as much as possible instead of using other harmful energy resources. German engineer Anton flettner contributed a lot in popularizing the concept of wind power energy.
The foldable flettner rotor is the perfect example of using wind energy for the benefit of mankind. And it is the brainchild of Anton flettner. Today, the energy obtained from wind power is also made accessible to the common man. This is comforting news and shows the advancement of technology in our daily lives. Nowadays, the wind turbine is the ideal source for generating wind power energy. It can be installed in your home easily with not much of an effort! The power generated from the wind turbine is capable of running all the electrical devices at your home. The best part is that it helps to keep our environment clean without being too expensive.
The foldable flettner rotor was first used in an airship made by none other than Anton Flettner. Initially, the concept seemed to have worked, but soon it was found that the thrust generated from it was nowhere near the capacity of the regular motor. However, Anton Flettner later with some of his fellow engineers managed to create an improved version of the rotor. And it proved its worth by withstanding all environmental challenges. This time it did not disappoint anybody’s expectations. A scientist even like Albert Einstein appreciated his efforts.
Recognizing his great work, Flettner was made the president of a renowned aircraft company in Berlin. The company was engaged in manufacturing helicopters. All of these helicopters operated with the help of two rotors. Flettner contributed to their development and they were extensively used in World War II. Later the Americans manufactured almost similar models, utilizing Flettner’s concept.
The great inventor and aviation engineer died on the December of 1961.
