New comers to this sport had to pay their dues. This meant proving themselves on the race track before any of them became professional racecar drivers. Proving that they had what it took to become a professional racecar driver was a very difficult task. First they had to zigzag across the country taking part in various racing events. Second they had to do so without any financial support. Administrative duties and keeping their engine in proper shape was their duty alone. Andrew Evans was able to do all these things by himself.
Since he repaired his own car engines, he saw that by doing the same for others he could finance his racing career. He started Scandia Engineering an engine restoration firm. By doing so he also kept himself up to date with the automotive industry.
After toiling and sweating for many years Andrew Evans was able to realize his dream of becoming a professional racecar driver. In the year 1990 the International Motor Sports Association accepted him into their ranks. They did so because they saw the potential in him. As a result he was able to race on tracks that were famous around the world.
After a few years as a professional racecar driver he felt the need to have a team of his own. In the year 1994, he formed his own team called Team Scandia. He was also able to use his reputation as a professional racecar driver to attract top class drivers to his team. Thus he was able to build a formidable team.
