Andrew Evans began his career by paying his dues. Those who ventured into this sport first had to prove that they were capable of racing before anyone accepted them. Proving meant that they had to do everything by themselves. Since the events were held across the country, newcomers were forced not only to zigzag across the country with their cars but also pay for their expenses by themselves. Besides this, maintaining their cars in top shape and fulfilling their administrative duties were also they responsibility. Andrew managed all of the above activities by himself. Like all newcomers he raced with the hope that he would build a reputation strong enough for him to one day race professionally.
In order to both finance his career as well as to keep himself up to date with what is happening in the automotive industry; he started Scandia Engineering an engine restoration firm.
Andrew Evans years of toil and sweat was recognized in the year 1990 when he became a professional racecar driver. He was accepted by the International Motor Sports Association because they saw him as a driver with potential. By gaining acceptance he was able to race on famous racing tracks throughout the world.
Evans decided to form his own racing team after a few years as professional racecar driver. This he did in the year 1994 and named his team “Team Scandia”. Next he used his reputation as a racecar driver to attract other top racecar drivers towards his team. As a result he formed a formidable racing team.
