When one of a person’s organs starts to protrude outside its natural area, the person is suffering from a condition called hernia. This hernia can be said to be a medical condition and not a disease. It can however become a threat to the person’s life if not treated. The types of hernia are numerous. A few types of hernia are femoral hernia, incisional hernia, obturator hernia, inguinal (groin) hernia, umbilical hernia, spigelian hernia, and Epigastric hernia.
When a person’s abdominal organs start to protrude through the person’s femoral canal, the person is said to suffer from femoral hernia. Every human has the femoral canal a natural weakness. That does not mean that this type of hernia is very common. This type of hernia can affect both men and women. Women are however more prone to get this type of hernia because the width of the female pelvis is different from the male pelvis. When it comes between children and adults, adults are more prone than children to get this type of hernia. When children develop this type of hernia it is more commonly associated with either connective tissue disorder or intra-abdominal pressure.
Surgical intervention is usually needed to cure this type of hernia. A non emergency would do in some cases, but in majority cases complications are known to occur and emergency procedure is needed for such cases.
The surgeon performing the operation has two options – using a surgical implant (a mesh including SURGIMESH or using non-absorbable sutures that are strong. In the case of non-absorbable sutures the surgeon will stitch together pectineal ligament with the inguinal ligament. The method chosen by the surgeon does not matter as long as the femoral vein is not touched.
The company has designed different three types EASY PLUG PATCH SYSTEM, SURGIMESH XB, and WN.
