Skipping Meals- One of the most common diet plan myths (that is long-standing as well) is that skipping meals is essential for fast weight loss. However, the fact remains is that skipping meal, does not contribute to healthy living and fast weight loss in any way. According to a report (by National Institutes of Health’s Weight-Control Information Network), starving may make you pack on pounds, instead of fulfilling your desire for fast weight loss. Eating 4-5 small meals throughout the day will contribute towards healthy living and fast weight loss as well.
Special Diet Foods for Fast Weight Loss- There are many who think that consumption of certain diet foods (such as eggs, celery) will help them to drop pounds quickly. Unfortunately, no diet foods can help you to burn fat magically. Of course, these foods are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals and should be part of your diet plan, but eating only these foods won’t contribute to fast weight loss. Your diet should contain foods that are rich in essential macronutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates and fats, along with the required micronutrients.
Fad Diet Plans- USA health market is loaded with fad diet plans that promises to make people lose weight overnight. However, opting for magical weight loss diets or eating only certain diet foods may do more harm than good in the long run. Instead of consuming only so-called magical diet foods, chalk out a weight loss diet that you can maintain life-long. This will contribute to healthy living and fast weight loss as well.
Switch to Vegetarian Diet for Fast Weight Loss- There are many who think that opting a vegetarian diet will contribute in fast weight loss. While it is true that vegetarians, in general, consume lesser calories as compared to people who follow a non-vegetarian diet, switching to a vegetarian diet won’t melt away the flab quickly. In fact, inclusion of certain foods can make vegetarian diet a high-calorie and high fat diet.
Not Eating Anything After 8 pm- Many strongly believe that a crucial aspect of weight loss diet is not eating anything after 8 pm. It is popularly believed that calories consumed after 8 pm is stored in the body as fat. However, the fact is that body’s usage of calories and digestion of food remains the same, irrespective of the time of you consume the foods.
Opt for Low-carb and High-protein Diet- Another popular diet myth is that a low-carb and high-protein diet is ideal for those who are looking for fast weight loss. National Institutes of Health says that this type of diet can result in fast weight loss, but only for a short period. Once you switch back to your normal diet, you may put on more weight than before. In addition, a weight-loss diet that is high in protein and low in carbs can result in health problems such as high cholesterol, kidney stones, heart diseases etc.
