There are various reasons people choose to follow a yeast free diet. For many it is due to a health related concern such as candida overgrowth. For others it is simply a detoxification effort or a weight loss effort. The important factor in any of these reasons is that a proper yeast free diet is effective.

This kind of diet or any diet in particular, can only succeed if you are committed to it. Having the right attitude and setting goals will help reinforce your commitment. However, commitment can sometimes waver when things get a bit more difficult than anticipated. At times, certain cravings might encourage you to stray from your diet goals. Focusing your attention on what you can consume versus what you can't will greatly help.

Yeast free diets may differ from doctor to doctor, but their differences should be very minimal. This is because the doctors or nutritionists who put you on the diet will use the basic foundational principles of the yeast free diet but make modifications depending on the person the diet is for. Recommendation of this type of diet can vary from one person to another. The basics of what you can eat are all kinds of vegetables, healthy grains, eggs, meat (as long as it's not cured, dried, or processed), seafood, seaweeds, seeds, soy products, legumes, yogurt (unsweetened), and nuts (except for peanuts). What you cannot eat are those foods made of flour starch, peanuts, malt and alcohol, fungi, mushrooms, cheeses, dairy products, and anything with vinegar or fermented foods like cider and sauerkraut.

If you've noticed, fruits are not mentioned in the foods that are allowed in this diet. That is because fruits contain sucrose which is not good for an overgrowth of Candida yeast. Fruits should not be an option in order to adequately rid your body of an overgrowth of yeast. As the diet progresses, you can check with your doctor about re-introducing certain foods. Peanuts, as well as peanut butter is also not allowed for those who are trying to get rid of the increased levels of yeast in their bodies. That is because peanuts, along with mushrooms and cheese, are moldy foods and won't help in getting rid of yeast. However, if you are on a yeast free diet for detoxification or weight loss purposes, intake of fruits is moderately allowed, but there are only particular fruits that are allowed.

Hence, by simply knowing the foundations of the diet as to what you can and cannot eat, you are equipped with enough know-how to make this quest successful for yourself. All you need to do is to have the right attitude and mindset to work with and you're on your way to great health.
