Whenever we hear the letters "Y," "M," "C," or "A," it's tricky never to think about The Village People. A disco team consisting of an Indian, a police officer, a construction worker, a cowboy, a military man, a biker along with, occasionally, a sailor, it can be reasonable to say that this group of individuals were about as unique as they appear. Selling more than EIGHTY-FIVE million albums and also spawning such hits as "Macho Man" and "In the Navy," the songs of the Village People is still a staple at marriage ceremony receptions and also high school dances just about everywhere. Yet as for the folks themselves - the people powering the Y, the M, the C, and the A - exactly where did they go? Did the cowboy journey away in the sunset or the biker find himself leader of the Hell's Angels? Well, not exactly, but the truth is could be pleasantly surprised to learn that The Village People are still around....and singing.

The Village People was brought to the world in order to kick off a fresh form of disco music along with an unique way of performing that had by no means been carried out before: it doesn't simply take a village to bring up a child, it also takes a village to make macho adult men with mustaches a hit.

Towards the end of 1979, The Village People seemed to be a 1970's fad, and indeed they found themselves most in-demand within this era. But, the 1980's didn't forget about the guys who created YMCA a household acronym. The ten years which belonged to brand new wave music, saw The Village People show up within a film - one that was, granted, ill received - and generate both minor and sub-major profitable club hits. In the middle 1980's, the Village People took a break out of performing and creating new music; they reunited for a comeback tour in 1993.

Upon their own comeback, the 1990's saw The Village People resting to some extent on their own laurels - while they focused on their own past hits - nevertheless it turns out their own laurels were a good place to rest. Around 1994, they were asked to join the German National Soccer team to perform the World Cup theme track, "All the way in America." A decade soon after, the group found themselves touring in Berlin and then moving on to be able to work as being the starting act for Cher's Farewell Tour.

In 2006, The Village People had been asked to be headliners for the Asbury Park's Gay Pride celebration in June and opened up for Los Lonely Boys in Texas on the Fourth of July. Additionally they performed at the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon and along at the Hard Rock Caf? in the Dominican Republic.

The Village People have always been random - if anything at all - and their performances attest to that: The Village People could show up virtually anywhere from your local club to the White House and perhaps they are certain to turn up randomly in years to come. In summer time 2007, they would of celebrated their 30th anniversary and, it truly is safe to say, they might still be just simply getting started.
