The great thing about the Internet is that you can find almost anything to connect you with your likes and interests. One thing that most people do is to join up with a forum of sorts, in this case a hip hop forum. These hip hop forums are going to vary depending on which one you decide to join up with. However, the few that I have visited over the last few weeks include things such as music downloads, videos, celebrity gossip, and hip hop album review options. For instance, one website I visited online was a forum that had the hip hop album reviews and they had it set up where you could view various artists such as Beyonce, Rihanna or Wiz Khalifa.
Then, each artists had their newest album and it was rated as far as how good the album was, how it varied from last years (if there was one), what kind of music you can be expecting from the artists - and maybe even a little celebrity gossip. This nice because not only can you get involved with the things you already like or want to know more about, but you can also talk to like-minded people such as yourself that have the same interests. Forums were originally a way for people to keep in touch with whatever was going on at that point in their lives - these are obviously general forums. These newer hip hop forums allow you to talk about everything hip hop - such as clothes, food, places to visit, music to listen to, artists to check out, etc.
Over all not only is this a fantastic way to learn more about hip hop music as a whole, but it's also a great way to meet new people with interests like the ones you have. Other forms of communication for hip hop are also going to include message boards, blogs, websites, and social networking sites. The message boards that I have seen up and running are a great way for artists (both major or otherwise) to drop beats, get opinions from people like you, veterans, or people that are in the business. These usually focus on improving a DJs abilities and helps create a positive criticism area where people (artists) can show what they have without being ashamed or embarrassed to share their music or lyrics with the audience or community.
You can also find different kinds of hip hop forums as well such as; skateboard, deep south, backpack, East Coast, gangsta hip, and West Coast hip hop. Although a lot of forums and websites online are focused more on the generalization of hip hop rather than any classifications as far as sub-genre's go. Anyone can join these sites - artists, lovers of hip hop, or simply people that want to see what's going on in the world of DJing, music or hip hop!
