Flyers are popular promotional tools. They are easy and inexpensive to produce. When you need to promote a sales event or product launch, you can rely on flyers to spread the word out. But before sending your design file to a business printing shop, you may want to check if your flyer can generate the impact that you desire.

Early on, you need to decide on the specifications of your flyer. You may choose to make your flyer in an 8.5" x 11"  for regular size or 4.25" x 5.5" for smaller announcements. Whatever size you choose, make sure that you allow proper margins. This is important so that your business printing provider will know how to print your flyer correctly.

When you layout your flyer, remember to use a font type that is easy to read. Create a balance in using bold and regular type by making use of the bold type for the headline and for other important parts of your marketing message. Small and regular font types are best utilized for the supporting in your message.

Including some graphics or images would be a good idea. To make the most of these visual elements, you may use them as the background so they won't get in the way with your message. Just make sure that any image you use is relevant to your business or to the actual message. If you have a logo you may consider using it to increase brand recognition. Discuss your ideas with the business printing provider as colored images, and color printing in general, can add up to your printing costs.

If you are printing flyers to introduce a new product or service, make sure that the copy concentrates more on the benefits of your offering instead of wasting the space for boring and lengthy descriptions. Your prospective customers are likely to ask questions such as, "What's in it for me?" So make sure that you have a valid answer for that in the flyer’s copy. For best results, write from the customer’s perspective and avoid the words we, our, us, and I. Also, make your message short and straight to the point. You only have a limited space so make every word count. Avoid long paragraphs by stating your message on bullet points and placing important details in a separate box.

Do not forget to proofread to avoid embarrassing misspellings and typos. Also check for the accuracy of the information you include in the flyer. All the contact details must be accurate and up to date. Have someone else proofread your message as our own eyes have this curious way of self-editing and filling in the blanks.

Once you are confident about the appearance, readability and impact of your flyer, it’s time to send it to the printers. If you are in the Houston area, you have a lot of option in terms of doing business with a professional printer. Just make sure to choose a reliable Houston business printing company to guarantee the final quality of your flyers.
