Website Search Engine Optimization
Quality content increases the chance that search engines, like Google, will crawl and index your site pages into their database. But, not without keywords that don't match up with your products, so take care when selecting them. Do not put too many keywords in your website content, or it will be viewed as spam by search engines, who will rank your website very low.
Building Links
The more links you have, the more search engines will notice your website, which will give you a better rank. In order to build effective links, use your main keywords as anchor keywords inside your hyperlink. Going back to the calculator example, replace "click here" with "buy calculator."
Targeting an Audience
Forums and discussion boards are the perfect place to post your website link. You will discover many potential customers here. However, do not spam. Search engine crawlers will recognize spam and you will become blacklisted, which does nothing for your search engine optimization efforts.
Target Offline
Offline advertising is important too. Local newspapers, word of mouth, and other venues are great ways to advertise.
A Website Sitemap
Adding a website sitemap is the best way to have search engines spiders crawl your website. However, searchbots have to be able to read your website, and they are only able to understand plain text. Searchbots just do not have the capability to read flash animation, so avoid using it in your website content. This goes for JavaScript as well.
Never Use Frames
Frames are difficult for visitors to distinguish from one another, so search engines tend to skip websites that have them. If your website has a menu.html and content.html and your viewer is sent to the content.html, they will have no menu to assist in navigation.
Don't Spam and Don't Go To Bad Communities
The following are several things you should never do: put links on abandoned guestbooks and forums, spam every website you find, and exchange links with spam filled websites, such as a pharmacy site. Doing so will raise the risk that Google will consider your website spam and block it from their search results.
