There are two types of marketing strategies today: online and offline marketing.

• Online marketing. Today’s modern technology has provided a lot of opportunities to businesses. Online marketing is now an essential strategy in the marketing plan of any business, large or small. After all, showcasing your products and services is now something that can be done easily on the internet.

However, you can't simply expect that people will just arrive at your site no matter how terrific your web site is. You still have to let your target customers know that your web site exists. This is a basic in marketing. Unless you offer a product or service that is a basic need, your target customers will not come looking for you. You have to look for them. Keep in mind that though there is still a huge percentage of the population that is not savvy with the internet. So, what do you do with them? You have to reach out to them through traditional marketing, especially if you are only targeting your local market. This leads us to the second type of marketing strategy, which is offline marketing.

• Offline marketing. Contrary to popular belief, offline or traditional marketing is still alive. Even though the internet is highly popular today when it comes to sending mails, people still love receiving mails through their mail boxes. And even though people would go through their mails at record velocity and discard anything that don’t please them, but those that catch their eye and grab their attention will be read and kept.

It doesn’t hurt to tap into this strategy. It can be the turning point of your online marketing strategy. After all, you need to tell people that you have a website that they can visit online. Traditional marketing will be the one to bring traffic to your web site.

Of course, there are other marketing strategies you can use to make your web site known. Some of them are:

• TV and radio ads
• Billboards
• Business cards
• Catalogs
• Direct mailing such as letters and postcards

The main goal is let people know that you are in business and you are also available online.

One of the best methods to promote your web site offline is to use postcards. Unlike billboards that people can pass by today but won’t bother to look at the next day or radio that has to spell out the web site URL which doesn’t guarantee that everyone will list down the site, a post card stays in the prospect’s side all day long. He can keep it and get it out when he has the time to surf the web.

A lot have succeeded in offline web site marketing using postcard printing. Even the most successful business owners on the internet promote with these cards and other forms of direct mail to bring traffic to their site. Keep in mind that the virtual world is just, well, virtual. It is not the real world, so if you want your virtual business to succeed you need to still follow and use the standards in the real word. Postcards will give you the exposure and credibility you need and in turn drive good traffic to your web site. There’s nothing wrong with following the old rules, so apply it in your marketing strategy today.
