Ah, Valentine's Day. Some people look forward to it with an almost unnatural fervor, while others... well, others flat-out hate it. Whether they're without a honey to shower with gifts and affection, or they're without the cash for gifts to shower their honeys with, some people just can't stand the holiday. As it's still two weeks away, those of you at a loss for what to get are in luck — you still have time to find something online and have it delivered. "Ugh, but then I'll have to pay shipping and handling fees!" you're probably grumbling. This is true, unless you find a deal web site that offers free shipping, of which there are many.
So, what sort of deals should you be looking for? Jewelry deals are the most obvious — a nice piece of jewelry is a classic, albeit easy way to go. Of course, you can always spice up the gift by way of presentation. Plan to take your lady out to a nice Chinese restaurant — before you go, though, tip the manager and ask him or her to put the jewelry in a fortune cookie, and then bring it out to her for dessert. Or, get her a box of chocolates (another clichéd, but time-honored classic), and rearrange them to say "I love you," with the jewelry sitting in the middle. Or, the night before Valentine's day, put the jewelry on her while she sleeps. Wake her up the next morning with breakfast in bed, and see how long it takes her to notice her new gem! The great story she'll have for years to come will make the jewelry all that more special!
Also check out electronics deals. This is probably more for you ladies at a loss for what to get your man — or those of you who have gotten it into your head that he'll enjoy that singing teddy bear as much as you would. Some kind of tech toy might not seem romantic, but he'll be way more appreciative if you show that you put some thought into the gift and didn't just grab a couple things from the Valentine's day aisle at your local drugstore. And there's no reason you can't make it a Valentine's Day-themed electronic gift. Give him a new camera, and record a special message telling him how much you love him. Or, give him an iPod or MP3 player and load it with his and your favorite love songs. You could even get him a new DVD player and include a copy of that romantic comedy you know he loves but will never admit to even having seen.
Now that you're not hopelessly lost about what to get your boo for Valentine's Day, get a move on! You only have two more weeks!
