FSO, an abbreviated form of Facility Security Officer, is entrusted with the task of taking care of every aspect associated with hazardous materials transportation. The employees, who are in charge of transporting these merchandises through diverse routes, are required to undergo extensive training. These officers are well-informed about the chemical properties of different HAZMATs. They have special training regarding how to tackle the adverse situations in the event of negligence and minimize the danger to the coworkers. This specially trained brigade of employees sees to it that adequate measures are taken to control the damage to the environment.
Several life-saving drugs use the HAZMATs in their compositions. In spite of significant risk associated with these products, they are transported to various locations throughout the globe. Many medicine manufacturers require these raw materials in adequate amount in order to produce the end products. While delivering these hazardous materials, chance of the occurrence of the unpleasant incidents can not be overruled. As an FSO is the learned person as to handling the hazardous items, so it is his responsibility to get all the utility measures implemented much beforehand.
An FSO officer is appointed for mainly two purposes. First objective is to make sure no unpleasant event takes place. But in spite of taking necessary steps, sometimes unfortunate incidents happen. So the second purpose of engaging such a skilled professional is to bring the situation under control in case any misfortune takes place while shipping the HAZMATs. When the harmful components participate in a chemical reaction, they lose their individual characteristics. That is why; the end products bring benefits to the users. But the ordinary persons are hardly aware of this fact. They are only bothered about the benefits rendered by the final products. But an FSO official, being aware of the perilous effects of these ingredients, makes sure a safe transportation of these goods, thereby ensuring a good living condition for the human being as well as flora and fauna of the nature.
The modes of HAZMAT transportation varies. Some products are delivered by air; some by road while the rest by water. When the dangerous goods are dispatched by waterways, mishandling poses a great threat to marine lives too. But the FSO officers, being skilled at handling of these goods, pay attention to every aspect of the hazardous goods dealing, thereby spreading the canopy of safety for the inhabitants.
