Let me get you started with your poster printing. This tutorial will help you print posters step by step from scratch. Do not worry, we won’t be getting too technical here in poster printing. We will explain each step as simple as we can. If there are technical stuff, everything will be explained in layman’s terms. So do not worry, everybody can understand and do poster printing with these steps. Let’s get started with the most important step at the start or building color posters, the brainstorming.
- Step one: Brainstorming – A poster starts with a thought, so that is your first step in creating posters. Do not jump the gun and delve into designing color posters immediately. First take some time to gather your thoughts about the poster you want to create and brainstorm some ideas about it.
- Step two: Get a Template – Once you have your thoughts all in a neat bundle for poster design, to start you off in creating your color posters, you need get a template. A template is basically a pre-set basic design which you can build upon for your posters. A poster template is easy enough to get. You can find them over the Internet. Just do a search and see what you can come up. I recommend that you go to the poster printing company websites first that offer free poster templates. Just choose the one that you think you can use.
- Step three: Get your raw materials – With your template all ready, the next step is to get your raw materials. By raw materials here, I mean the basic design elements that you need. So take the pictures you need, or download the design elements and effects you want. If you need some special fonts, it is good to look for some great and creative ones over the Internet. Of course, if you still do not have a desktop publishing application to create your design, you should get those as well. Be extensive with your gathering and try to get more than enough so that you have a lot of options once you start.
- Step four: Do your Layout –Afterward, the next step is to do your layout. This should be easy enough for you. Just load up your template in your desktop publishing application. Once it opens, you should see your basic layout setup. Just insert your image design elements one by one either by the insert command in your application, or by a simple copy and paste command using the right click menu. Don’t forget to also add your text by using the text tool in your software. Once everything is loaded, just adjust the elements, enhance them and be creative with your placements.
- Step five: Proofread your work – Next, you should proofread your work. This is an important step since you won’t want grave errors to pass on to your poster printing. So do your proofreading 3 times. Have a friend to help you out to make sure no errors get through to printing.
- Step six: Look for a printer – Next, you should look for a poster printer. If you have a large and powerful printer at home or at the office you should be fine. If not, then you will have to hire a poster printing company. You might want to go online for this, since there are a lot of online poster printing companies that you can easily hire. Just shop for the one with the best printing options and printing rates and go for it.
- Step seven: Poster printing – Finally, you should just place your order for poster printing, send them the design you made and then wait for the posters to arrive. In three to five days, you should be able to enjoy your nice color posters.
The best way to do this is to browse through some examples of color posters. What I do usually is search for some sample posters over the Internet. You can do this too. Just browse through some examples and get your mind to working. See what may look good on your posters and see what you want to avoid. Take down notes, do some sketches and your brainstorming should help you decide what you need to do in designing.
That’s it! That’s all there is to it in poster printing. It looks very easy right? Now try it out for yourself.
