We use our bedroom to rest, relax and sleep for the most part. This is why it is considered a place that is peaceful, comfortable and where we leave our daily stress behind whether we live alone or with somebody else. With our stressful lives as it is we need to create that tranquil space that allows us to regenerate and be ready to tackle the next day's stress with renewed force and energy. This is why using Feng Shui in the bedroom has become so popular these days in the Western world.
The correct position for sleep according to feng shui is having view both to the window outside and the door to your room. Your head should be against a thick wall that symbolizes security and support. Avoid having your bed facing the door whereby your head, feet and the doorway are in one single line. Also don't have anything hanging over the bed, such as mirrors or construction beams.
Also make sure that your sleeping room is not a warehouse. If you feel it is full of clutter, clear it away to remove all the negative energies that might surround you. All this clutter is like a blocking force that stops the positive energy to flow towards you. Also every morning open the window to get fresh air and welcome the natural air in the room. To clear the clutter means cleaning the mind at the same time, at least according to feng-shui.
Avoid having strong and bright colors in your sleeping place. You should use colors that are calming and relaxing in nature. For a smaller room use even lighter colors than otherwise as this will give the impression of the space being a bit larger.
When it comes to furniture, less is more. Don't have bookshelves in there or a TV as this will disturb the relaxing atmosphere and aura of the room. Also avoid having furniture with sharp edges. Furthermore do not have live plants and aquarium in there as movement means aliveness, which promotes activity, not sleep. It will disrupt your rest.
Finally, make sure that your bed is comfortable and your mattress, pillows and bedframe are the best for your place. No feng shui tip will help you if you don't have a comfy bed in the first place. Waking up mornings with joint pains and neck aches will defy the purpose of your bedroom being an oasis of tranquility and rest.
