Have you been putting up with the same business card for a long time now? Have you been thinking of reinventing your cards and giving it a more upbeat and friendly image? Then you no longer have to put off the job as there are a lot of options available today that will easily add excitement to your old, boring card without making a run on your marketing dollars.

Keep in mind that people expect any serious business owner to have an impressive and professional looking business card, and you cannot let your cards to languish in your pocket or drawer with a mediocre design. If you love your business cards and what to bring in more income to your business, then follow these tips to making an ordinary card look extraordinary.

1. Put something out of the ordinary in your card. Why not put a hole somewhere in it. Just use the hole punch you use on your papers. Chances are people will ask what the hole is all about, and presto, you got yourself a great conversation started. Now, that would be your chance to talk about your card and, of course, your business. Let’s say you run a dating service company. Tell people that the hole represents the emptiness people feel when they don’t have someone to love. Isn’t that a great punch line? Just use your imagination and you can surely come up with something unique that will make your card memorable to your prospects.

2. The next time to hand out your card, consider giving it with your both hands. Just like the Japanese. It is customary to them to hand and receive cards with both hands. Why not do the same? After all, you won’t lose anything if you do it.

When giving your card, hand it face up with the text facing the recipient. Then carefully hand it to the receiver. Doing this will give the impression that your card holds valuable information, which your prospects will think would benefit them a lot. Keep in mind that if you treat your card with respect, your prospects will definitely notice it and do the same.

3. Personalize your card. It’s important that you give your card the feeling that it is personally made for the receiver. Anything personal you put on your business card templates will increase its value and encourage your prospects to keep it. You can leave the back side blank to write on notes before giving out your card. You can sign your name on it, or write your top product at the moment. You can even write a discount on it (perhaps a 10% or 20%), put your initial on it, and tell your prospect to bring the card when they visit your store. You can also write your personal information such as your home number on your card to make your prospect feel more special and valued.

4. Use a classy business card holder. This will tell people how much you value your cards. A card holder will keep your card neat and clean so when you hand them out, your prospects will see how your care for your cards. It’s best to get a card holder that has two sections: one for your cards and the other for the cards you receive. This will really impress people as they know that you value their card and will encourage them to do the same to your card.
