What could you possibly do to make your business card more compelling? Should you use stylish fonts, vibrant colors, and enticing images on it? Should you make it look like a car, print it in plastic, or insert it in a fortune cookie? Well, you actually have a lot of options. You can do whatever you want in your card. But for starters, you could add:

1. Calendar. This will surely encourage someone to keep your card for the whole year.

2. Conversion charts such as metric conversion charts and tables of weights and measures.
3. Emergency phone numbers. People would surely find a list of emergency numbers helpful. This can include ambulance service, the police, hospital hotlines, and many others.
4. City services numbers such as the health department, public utilities, and others.
5. A step by step guide on how to change a tire or what to do when involved in a car accident.

Of course, your card gets a higher chance to get kept if it is printed with a discount coupon. Everybody loves discounts these days. The discount can range from 5% to 20% or more, depending on how much you can offer to your prospects. Just ask your prospects to bring the card when they visit your store or when they purchase from you.

You could also offer a referral discount. This means that for every referral a person can bring to your business, the referrer can get a free item or any type of incentive from you. Simply leave a space at the back of the card where they can write the name of the person who referred them.

You can also consider putting jokes at the back of your business cards templates. People are likely to show a card that they find funny to others and return to your store to pick up the latest version of your card that contains other jokes.

Have you seen the trading cards that children collect? It’s important for kids to collect the complete set of the cards, so they won’t stop getting the cards until they have the complete designs. Why not do the same to your cards. Print a collectible design at the back which your prospects can collect. You could put a reference number in each card design, say, “1 of 6” designs. This way, people can keep track of the designs they have to collect. This will surely increase the chance of your card being kept.

Don’t forget to offer a prize to anyone who can present to you a complete set of your business cards. Offer them a great incentive they can’t resist so they have every reason to hold on to your card and show it to their friends or colleagues.

With a little creativity and imagination, and for a very low price, you can effectively produce a card which your target customers will keep, remember, and use. So, don’t waste every space you have in your card. Add valuable information on it and you will be surprised with the return on investment it will provide you. Your prospects will surely be motivated to keep your card, use it when they need your product or service, and even refer it to others. Every time they see your card, they will be reminded of your business and the benefits you can provide you.
